If the mountain is 1000 meters high and its peak is 2000 meters above sea level, its base is 2000 - 1000 = 1000 meters above sea level.
Since the well is 100 meters deep and it’s drilled at the base of the mountain, the bottom of the well is 1000 - 100 = 900 meters
