If 5x = 6y and xy ≠ 0, what is the ratio of 1/5*x to 1/6*y ?
(A) 25/6
(B) 36/25
(C) 6/5
(D) 5/6
(E) 25/36
5x=6y
6y/5x =1
(1/5x)/(1/6y)= 6y/5x =1
Where I'm doing wrong? Pls help. Thanks
The ratio of 1/5*x to 1/6*y is \(\frac{(\frac{1}{5}*x)}{(\frac{1}{6}*y)}=\frac{x}{5}*\frac{6}{y}=\frac{6x}{5y}\), not \(\frac{6y}{5x}\). Since from the stem x/y = 6/5, then \(\frac{6x}{5y}=(\frac{6}{5})^2=\frac{36}{25}\).
Answer: B.
Hope it's clear.
