If n and k are integers, is (−1)^(4n+k) less than 0?

The question is asking us if the power value (i.e is 4n + k) negative ? and since 4 time any value of n is even, we just need to find out the value of k.

(1) n is an even number

Insufficient cause of reasons provided above.

(2) k is an odd number

bang on. all we needed was K. Sufficient.

Answer is B
