The author says in line53 that the labor historians’ analyses were“class-based,” but it’s not enough just to read this sentence. The labor historians’ argument is discussed primarily at the end of Paragraph1 , where the passage says that labor historians believe feminists’ lack of support for maximum-hours legislation stemmed from their loyalty to the interests of their own class and ignorance of the concerns of other classes. So, as(D) says, the author uses the term“classbased” to suggest that labor historians explained the feminists’ actions by citing their classallegiances.
