Given: The average (arithmetic mean) of the positive integers x, y, and z is 3.

Asked: If x < y < z, what is the greatest possible value of z ?

x + y + z = 9 & x < y < z
For z to be greatest, x & y have to be least.
Since x, y & z are positive integers
x = 1; y = 2; z = 6
