If you try to equate 1.456Y=1.3 (1.12Y)
you will get, 1.456Y = 1.456Y.
But you can't find value of Y.

Why can't it be "A" statement one only ?

We are told X=1.45Y

Statement 1: X=1.3Z ; Z=1.12Y. So,

1.Combine info from question and statement one:
MAKE THE X'S EQUAL TO EACH OTHER. 45Y=1.3Z THEN 1.45Y=1.3 (1.12Y). SOLVE FOR Y. Sufficient!?
