The trick to solving such questions is to try and move your lines to match given statements and then evaluate.
Statement 1: x=q, move l in clockwise direction and m in anticlockwise direction to see that x can equal q at n angles.

Statement 2: same exercise
Combined: See that when you rotate l clockwise and m anticlockwise, x can equal q and y can equal p.
For lines to be parallel, x has to equal p or y has to equal q
