Considering statement (1) alone:
We find that the radius of the circle is √2.
=> The length of one side of the rectangle is 2√2.
INSUFFICIENT

Considering statement (2) alone:
Adjacent sides are equal doesn't give us the length of the rectangle.
INSUFFICIENT

Considering both statements together:
Now, we know that the two lengths are 2√2.
Hence, we can find the area.
The answer is (C).
