Line K is tangent to the circle with center (0, 0) at (-3, y) such that its y-intercept is positive. If the radius of the circle is 5, what is the slope of Line K?


we can identify that the tangent forms a right triangle with sides 3-4-5

The radius is the hypotenuse, 5
one side is given, 3
so, the other side of the right triangle must be 4

Therefore, coordinates of line K are (-3,4) and (0,0)

the slope is calculated as Y1-Y2 / X1-X2,
4-0 / -3-0 = -4/3
